Most Amazing Day

Well today was just an amazing day all around.

Woke up early because I could not sleep because I was so excted about our ultrasound appointment today.

The appointment went great. it was so so so amazing.  They went through and measured everything.  The babies look perfect.  They are almost identical in size and right not track for 19 weeks.

It was just amazing we got to see.  The only problem I had was that I was so excited I could barely stand still while watching the monitor.  By the end my cheeks hurt from the 2 hours of ultrasound and my perma-grin while watchign the screen.

The babies were moving around and we got to see everything and watch as they measured all their little parts.  So cool to see them move their little arms, legs, hands and such.

It was so amazing to see there little legs with femurs that are just over an inch long.

They then checked baby sexes and Carolyn made some cards up for the technician to write down the sexes inside and seal so we can find out together later, if i can convince her to find out before hand.
So that is as much of the sexes as i know so far.  I am workin hard on having us find out.  It is just a simple opening of the cards to find out. I so want to find out. So So so want to find out.  Her latest thought is since I want to know so bad that maybe her gift to me on Father's day(June 21st) or my birthday (September 14th) will be to open the cards.  All i can say is that both of those are way to far away.  Can't we jsut open them together and have the joy of finding out.

We did get some good pictures of the babies.  Here they are:
Here is a shot of both of them with their in utero names on them.  You can see the membrane bwteen them. They are both in completely different sacks with serperate placenta's.  So either identical or fraternal. Still do not know?

Then a profile of each.

Ellie

Zee!

Then we went to our doctors appoitnemnt after that and we got to listen to heart beats.  Oh man that was cool!!!  Seeing thema nd then hearing there heart beats.

Now that was a fantastic day!!!

And that is not even counting that I played soccer for the second time after my 2 monhs off with a hamstring tear.  That is just so insignificant comapred to the baby fun.

Well time to head to bed.

Ongoing Recovery

Well the day after has been pretty good.  I am up and walking around.  Enough pain and muscle spasms so that I am still on pain and muscle relaxers.  Still not mcuh sitting because the back does not like that as much as standing.  So far the recovery is going very well.  Hopefully from here things are just getting better from here.   Hopefully Thursday morning I will get to walking and making progress back to getting to play sports in a few months.

Hopefully when I get up in the morning it does not hurt to much so I can not take and medications and head off to work.  We will see.

Surgery and Recover

Well today was surgery day for my back.

I got up and went to work this morinng till 11 when Carolyn and Kelsey came and got me, to go to the hospital.

Everything at the hospital went well. I was admitted at 11:45. Went into Surgery at 1:15 and was out of surgery around 3 PM.

I was out of it till around 3:30 so the doctor explained how everything went to Carolyn.  The surgery was a success, exerthing went well but not exactly as planned.  When the doctor went in they found some scarring around my nerves.  This means they had to move the nerves around a bunch and scrape off the scar tissue.  This could cause more long term swelling and pain.  When I woke up a felt pretty good but when I went to get up I had some major pain my back. Major muscle cramps with pain.  It took a few rounds of pain meds and muscle relaxers before I could stand and walk out.  We got to leave the hospital at 6:30.

I am now home and standing at a standup desk Carolyn made me so I can work on the computer and watch TV.  I am on some pain medications so it has taken me about 1.5 hours to write this. The Brain doesn't work exactly swifty with the pain meds.

Here us some pictures of the day.

Scheduled Back Surgery

Well, Well, Well.........I had a follow up with my spine specialist on Friday 3rd.  The good news is he believes I should fully recover and get back to playing sports and everything else I like to do.  The bad news is that I am having back surgery to try and fix the pain I have down my right leg, calf, foot and groin.  I will be having a microdiscectomy (More info).  I am scheduled to have the surgery on Monday October 13th at Evergreen Orthopedic Center.  Hopefully the recovery goes well because Carolyn and I are supposed to leave 2 weeks later for Hawaii. This might be a very relaxing vacation.

Lots of other things happened this past week::
Great Big Sea Concert - Greta concert - We stood the entire time and for times durign seom great songs i actually did not notice the pain. Great music.
New Z parts showing up - I got new material to build a new front grille
Hanging with Good Friends Justin and Zeta who were in town - Got to spend all day Saturday catching up, discussing politics, eating Diane's great cooking, watching a movie and hanging out with Justin, Zeta, Dave and Diane. Greta Day.
Watching Football with Friends and making the worst burgers I have made in years (sorry guys - you were all good sports to eat that pathetic excuse for a burger)
Great dinner with Bea and Carolyn Sunday night - Great food and great conversation.
But my leg pain and scheduling the surgery has never been far from top of the mind.

Till later. Hope to have good news about the surgery next Monday.
