11月10日 Come Help with the Hostetler TWINSWell we have had amazing support from friends and family thus far. It has been great getting support from friends in the form of help during the weekends, dinners brought over hot and frozen for warming later. For everyone who has helped thus far thankyou so MUCH!
Sofar things have not started to get easier yet and we can see some gaps in the coming weeks where we do not have any coverage so Carolyn would be home alone with the twins. Carolyn can handle being home alone with the twins but it is not easy when you are out numbered.
There are a number of ways to help out if you are interested.
Sign up to cover a time when it is only Carolyn at home. Really hard with one person another person to hold, soothe, feed, change really helps. Bring a hot meal or Food that is easily warmed up to keep Carolyn fed. Sweep/vacuum the floors (broom/vacuum in pantry) Load/unload the dish washer Wash bottles/parts Take out the trash/recycling/compost Wash/fold a load of laundry (please limit use of bleach, thanks!) Clean the kitchen/bathroom sinks (Comet and scrub pad under kitchen sink) Clean the bathroom tubs I have put together a Google Calendar that shows when we have people helping and when we really need people to come help.
Specifically it would be great to have help for Carolyn if you can on November 19th from 1 till 6 PM, November 20th from 8-5 and Thanksgiving week November 23rd,24th and 25th from 8-5. If you could cover just a bit of the time just let us know because 2 on 2 is so much easier then 1 on 2.
Coming over while Hoss is gone to work is one great way to help but there are lots of other ways you can help if you canno or do not want to help by coming over and helping with the Prepping formula and bottles, holding, swinging, swadling, changing diapers. If you can help just let me know when and I will put you down on the calendar.
Bringing food is very helpful. Either hot meals or frozen food ready to be warmed to make it easy to keep Carolyn feed while she feeds our boys is really helpful.
You can give me a call or e-mail and you can drop frozen or refrigerator food by any time. On the google calendar I have place holders fro hot meals. If you want to do one of those just let me knwo and I will update it saying someone is brining something that night.
If niether of those suit your fancy there are lots of other things that just are not getting done these days that would be helpful.
Just drop me a line if you are interested in helping letting me know when you can help.
Thanks
Hoss
11月3日 Holy Blowout BatmanOk well we are current at the end of Day 6 with our new little boys and I must say that being a daddy sofar rocks 99% of the time. You are about to hear about the other 1% of the time. you have been forwarned.
Last night had a rather interesting time from about 1 AM till 3 AM. I will set the picture here.
Carolyn is over tired because she is still trying to do to much after laboring for 40 hours and going through the C-section. So she was TIRED. Trying to take care of her I told her to go to sleep and I had the boys thill the next feeding. I got much more then I bargained for in this deal.
This story needs to begin with a bit of background before it can really get going.
We had our first pediatrition appointment yesterday and we had spoken to her about the fact the Cooper was not progressing to the once a day bowel movement at all infact it had been over a day and he still had the black tar like meconium poop instead of moving onto the momma's milk poop.
Well Cooper went from the anti-pooper to the super-pooper during this time.
I was swinging Brady to get him to calm down adn try to sleep without being held. I finally got him quited down so i went to put him the crib. As i reached over the crib side rail the wall of stench hit me. i was sideswiped and almost lost mu dinner right there. Full gag reflex but i kept it down.
OH MY GOD IS THAT YOU COOPER?
Well I set Brady down and amazingly he did not start crying. i think he must have know that his brother just played an evil joke on his dad and jsut wanted to watch the mayhem unfold.
I began to unswadle Cooper and pulling back the frist of three blankets I already see the bleed through of the poop. The black tar poop is no more we have rich brown runny poop here. It got past the first diaper soaked the nightware, blanket one, blanket two and was jsut contained by blanket three.
WOW how does a 7 lb baby make this much poop. Well I spent then next 10-15 minutes cleaning up Cooper the SUPPER-POOPER. I basically had to give him a bath from the belly button down. I then got new outfit and blankets out and swaddled him again. Put him back in the crib.
i figured that was teh end of that. oh man did that stink but I made it through. Oh i was SOOOOOO wrong. As soon as I put cooper down his brother Brady started fussing so I picked him back up. 15 inutes of calming and I just about have Brady calm enough to set down to sleep again when Cooper jsut start walling. Which Cooper doesn't usually cry all that much. I picked him up and was tryign to figure out what was wrong. Only an hour from when he last ate and he jsut had a giaantic poop so that coudl not be it. Well i started to rock him to try and sooth him but it wasn't working. I went to swing him in a different position and that is when I got hit with an even worse stench then before. it was like gettin my clocked cleaned with an unseen right hook from Mike Tyson. I mean wow that was fowl. Once again I barely held back throwing up. I swear i tasted a bti fo throw up. Yuk.
So i took Cooper back the changing table and this time I was ready with more wash clothes damp and ready to clean. Or so I thought. I pulled back the first blanket. So far so good. Set that at teh end fo the changing table. Pull back the second blanket. All good also. Put it at the end of the table. Pulle dup the night sack and there is poop coming out both leg holes of the diapers. And WOW it stinks to hi heaven. I pull the diaper off and begin the task of cleaning. Wipe Wipe Wipe, Clean But, Back, Family Jewels, Left leg, right Leg, Lower belly. Grab the new Diaper and lift Cooper to put the Diaper on and then...........
Holy Blowout Batman!!!! Cooper let me have it. His butt erupted with a noxious fume and poop moving at a very high rate of speed. The new Diaper was no match it blew by it and hit Hoss' hand and arm, the blankets at the end of the changing table, a few diapers sittig on the side fo the changing table and all over the changed table pad. This one was even worse I did a few dry heaves thinking I am a goner. but was able to compose myself. I spent the next 30 mintes cleaning up the Cooper Pooper mess again!
Whew all done. Set Cooper down and as soon as he hti the bed I heard him let loose again followed by the smell eminating. Really you have got to be kidding me. Ok so I picked him up ran to the kitchen to grab paper towels because at this point I have no more washclothes to clean this boy up with. No more blankets to swadle him in because he has now been able to dirty 8 diapers, 8 blankets all the washclothes we have, 2 changing table pads in under two hours.
Now I just put Cooper on the table to be changed again adn his borther starts wailing. So now i have Cooper ont he table for the forth times he is crying adn now his borther is crying. This is about the time that Carolyn wake up and sticks her head in and says how are you doing.
I laughed and said "I am fine but I know you got the better shift this night".
Just thought I would share the 1% bad part send I often just share my pure joy. But i would have to say during all of this I was laughing my but off because I could not believe a little 7 pound baby could produce so much fecal matter. That was simply an amazing feat. Impressing me already little Cooper.
Till later. ---Hoss
10月30日 Welcoming the TWINS!!Well I know it has taken me two and a half days since our amazing little boys were born to get another post out but I have not been able to tear myself away from them and my amazing wife. But without further ado............................................
We welcomed our twins into the world early in the morning on Wednesday October 28th 2009
First to arrive was
Cooper Thomas Hostetler arrived at 5:18 AM wieghing in at 7 lbs 2.8 ounces and 19 inches long
Followed by his brother
Cooper is on the left and Brady is on the right displaying their yellow summarine gear.
Well it has been quite a ride. Time to give everyone a little update on how we came to welcome them into the world and a little of our journey since then.
I left off in my last post that Carolyn had gotten to 5 centimeters and that baby A (Now Cooper) was engaged in the cervex. We had gotten this far because of the amazing staff and my amazing wife all working together.
Here is where I have to take a quick aside and say that
The University of Washington Medical Center Labor & Delivery Rocks!!!!
Every one we had involved in our care has been amazing. Everyone brought something different to our care and made sure we were fully informed to what was happening and helping us work through the induction, labor, eventual C-section and caring for Carolyn and the boys afterwards. We coudl not reccomend UWMC and staff more. They worked with us to allow us to have the birth experience we truely wanted and made sure we were fully informed all the way along about what the options, risks and benefits were. Great care and we loved sharing our experience with everyone!! Thanks UWMC L&D Staff!!
Well once we were able to get Baby A to engage in the cervix the decision was made to rupture the bag of waters. Which we did and Carolyn's contractions started to pick up. They also began to increase the pitoson to help the Labor move along.
With the labor really begining to pick up Carolyn got her combined spinal epideral. Great decision to get it early to allow for a low dose throughout the labor. You will see why soon enough. With the labor picking up and Carolyn having the Epidural placed we decided to have her try to get some sleep because we had already been in the hospital 30 hours going through the induction and in that time Carolyn had probably only gotten 3-4 hours of combined sleep in 10-25 minute increments.
I worked on giving Carolyn a little massage to calm her as things were prepped before getting her able to relax after the epideral was placed.
![]() We got her to sleep for a good hour or two after working through a bunch of things to make her comfortable enough to ge the little bit of sleep. The doctors came in and checked Carolyn a little after midnight and found that she was ready to begin pushing. So the first huge plus for the epideral was allowing Carolyn a bit of rest before she started pushing. So after 36 hours of labor induction it was time for Carolyn to start pushing. Once again here I have to say it again my wife is amazing. Crazy amazing.
At this point in the process I was so excited I could harldy stand it. I could not stop moving and bouncing up and down. Little did I know we were not close to meeting the boys yet.
Well Carolyn quickly learned how to really pus and things were showing very good progress and at an hour in I was able to see the head of Baby A when they were hecking things. As if I wasn't excited enought. At this point I was jsut jumping out of my skin. So exciting. Once again little did we know we still were not all that close to meeting them.
I think this picture of a tuckered Carolyn from pushing for 2 hours at this point and a big cheesey grin on my face and our friend Kelsey.
Well another half hour went by and the doctors checekd again and Baby A really did not progress much more from where he was earlier. The options were discussed again and we decided to start and try to use a bunch of different variations of positions to labor in along with increasing the pitoson.
Here is the second reason the early low dose epideral was awesome. Over the next two hours Carolyn was pretty fully mobile trying out different positions to help get those boys to come.
She tried a modified sitting position with legs up and pulling on a sheet to increase her ability to push through the bottom.
She then moved onto a few different squatting positions to see if we could get gravity to help get these boys moving. No Luck.
Here we are a good three hours into full on pushing 39 hours into the induction. You can tell that Carolyn is pretty tired here. In fact she was beginign to drift off between contractions and fall asleep. Someone was tired! but amazingly she did not lose her sense of humor through it all.
I know because I made some very well timed comments (NOTE: unless you are very practiced and really REALLY KNOW your partner I do not advise trying this) that got the room a good laugh once Carolyn laughed at them.
For one you need to notice the blue vomit bag which is one of many I held that night as Carolyn pushed past any mental, emotional or physical barriers she had during the labor.
HOSS: "As my old football coach used to say 'If you ain't puking you ain't working' good work Carolyn! Keep it up!"
I lov emy wife she can be working harder then i have every worked at anything in my life and still laugh at my jokes - either she thinks they are funny or she just loves me that much to still humor me.
She also moved to trying the on all fours laboring approach and I was the helper to push on her back so she had soemthing to push against to really get a great push.
Well another half hour went by and they checked her again. So we are at 39.5 hours of induction and there has been no movement for the last 2 hours.
The doctors checked a few more things with having Carolyn not push and helped us make the call that even though Carolyn was giving it her all and doing amazing pushes focusing all her energy that her uterus was jsut too tired to help her enough. So we deciede on the C-section.
Third great reason for the Epideral because all they did was up the does from the low dose that let her move and labor and she was awake and ready for teh c-section. The doctors prepped the OR(Operating Room) for Carolyn and we went into the OR around 40 hours into begining induction.
Carolyn was so tired and without having to focus on pushing my job for the 30 minute procedure was really to keep my wonderful wife awake.
We were focused on each other when we got to hear the first cry from Cooper as he was born. Here is where the tears started fro both of us. So SO HAPPY.
The boys were born a minute apart and they were perfect. Just amazing.
Here is a picture ofo teh two boys next to each other in the OR jsu tminutes after they came into the world. Here we are in the middle of the checks on Cooper. Currently the fall reflex which is why Cooper does not look happy while Brady is just chillin all bundled up while his brother goes through the tests. Awesome!!! Tears were still flowing here!!!!!
Then once Carolyn was out of the OR I got to introduce the boys to here again before she crashed for some well deserved rest. As soon as I had a chance I got me and the boys with me sporting my Seattle Family of Multiples T-Shirt. From there we went to the postpartum floor at UWMC and once again was amazed by the staff. So helpful and with so much great information and guidance as how to work through everything with our new boys and with Carolyn recovering. It has been an amazing ride with our boys here. I have been more busy then I could have ever imagined and enjoying myself more then ever before even though I am more tired then I have ever been before. This parenting thing really does imediately change everything. Everyone always says that and I thought I knew what that meant before they boys were here. But I now know untill you are here you really cannot understand it. I thought I did but I didn't untill 2 days ago. I mean I was already so excited to meet them and had already fell in love with them but WOW this is so much better then I could have ever imagined!!!! Let the journey begin!!!!! I also have to give so many props to my wife Carolyn. She is simply amazing. 36 hours after birthing our twins and she has confidence and calmness to guide our two boys to begin some tadem feeding. We are all still learning but these are precisous times that are going way to quickly. Well that is all for today.
MY BOYS ARE HERE!
Welcome Cooper Thomas (Left) and Brady Edmund (Right)
10月27日 Labor Induction - the middle?? MaybeWell after 24 hours in the hospital we basically have no movement tobar active labor by the twins. The twins on the monitors look happy as can be in there. Maybe Carolyn is just to nice of a host. Carolyn had been at nothing (-2) when she came in and got to 2 cm dialated using a foley bulb but still have a depth of -2. That was this morning and the same this afternoon around 2 PM. From checks on the babies they were worried that since they were both head down they were blocking each otehr from truely engaging and we began talks about what if they do not engage. Maybe a C-section tonight or tomorrow because the thought was at this length with twins they might not be able to engage if both are in the pelvis. We asked what all our options are and asked them for some time to try and use a little movement to try and move the babies to let one engage.
Well Carolyn got right to it. They did not worry about the monitoring of the babies as much and let Carolyn move. She was doing deep knee bend squats and rocking back and forth and doing some awesome yoga poses. Thanks Julie for having Carolyn be so in tune with her body and yoga.
![]() Look at that downward dog at 40 weeks 6 days with twins. Oh my god she is amazing.
Doing the army crawl to push up baby B. Then we did soem work with Hoss trying to push baby B out of the way.
Then the doctors came back in to have a discussion with us. They gave us some options and one was to keep going with pitoson to see if we could start active labor and to do another check and possibly rupture the membrane to the lower bag of waters. Maybe one of those coudl help active labor start.
Well they did a check to see if rapturing the bag of waters was an option and we got good news. The baby is engaged with the cervix with the membrane stretched over it and she is at 5 cm. Awesome. So the bag of waters was ruptured and we are continueing with the yoga poses. You go girl!!
My Awesome wife!!!
Here is a little downward dog that Carolyn did to move them babies!!!!!
Till later Labor Induction - the beginingFirst off knowing we were planning on going in on Monday for labor Induction we went out for dinner with a good group of friends.
![]() ![]() Thanks Bea, Don, Nick, Kim, Jonathon, Dena and Darby for joining us on our last childless night out.
Well from the begining things did not go how we had thought.
We woke up Monday morning the 26th at 7 AM. My first thought was whoa we slept in. First words out of my were "why did you let me sleep so late?" Carolyn said "I thought you were sleeping so well why wake you?" I said "Hello its time to meet our boys lets call and get in there!"
So we called Labor and Delivery and they said hey we are busy we will call you later in the day to come in. WHAT! I thought we were going to get the ball rolling.
So we started our day by running errands. Yes at 40 weeks a 5 days we were out running errands. We had just really gotten going with our errands - sending packages, getting gas, Home depot, Costco......Then we got the call time ti head in. Come in sometime in the next hour.
So we headed to the hospital. We are getting started!!!!! or so we thought........................................
We got to the hospital around Noon, got checked in got to our room. The room rocks!! Big enough for us and friends and a view of the UW Stadium!!! Go Huskies!!!
We met our nurse and doctors for the next 6 hours. Everyone was awesome and impressed with Carolyn making it to 40 plus with twins. We then got to go through an ultrasound to check baby position and the first of many checks on how things are or are not progressing.
The best quote from our doctor with the first check was "that cervix is just screaming for some rippening" But the news there was nothing much happening. Same as when we were at the doctor last Wednesday. So some rippening agents were introduced that last 12 hours to try and help things move along. Then lots of monitoring and will recheck at 2 AM.
Here is Carolyn in bed with all of the monitors on. The rest of the day was in the room just hanging out with the monitors on. Which as we found out means Carolyn must stay in the room. Because they have no mobile monitors that can handle twins. Which we found out after carolyn asked to be able to walk around. They went to get things and found out they do not have the mobile monitoring fro twins. All teh nurses were surprised. The quote was "We have ever had a twins monther wanting to walk around when here". Well my honey wanted to walk because she is AWESOME!!!!!
So the afternoon went along with the monitoring and Carolyn standing beside the bed, in the bed and on the birthing ball.....
Here is a picture of Carolyn on the ball not exactly happy that her husband has a camera pointed at her.
This basically went on untill we started to wind down around 8:30 to get soem sleep. We had forgotten that my parents were on there way and just as we started to wind down the parents showed up full of grandparent excitment and energy. It was great to see them and share the time but wow did the energy level go sky high for awhile. The parents took off around 9:00 and we got finally got to try and sleep around 10 PM.
Some pictures of the arrival of the granparents.
Carolyn basically got no sleep till atleast midnight because of the monitoring. I on the otherhand didn't get good sleep but did sleep alot. Caorlyn got a little sleep from midnight till 2 when they woke us up to check things.
From 2-3 carolyn was free from mointors and got to roam free for awhile and get into the tub for a few minutes.
Then we had a long discusion on next steps with the doctors. About 3:30 AM they went forward with a Foley bulb which was not easy but Carolyn made it through. The staff all were amazed at how well she did. Then they let Carolyn not start anything else so she could try and get some sleep before we start pitoson.
Well we slept kinda from 4 till about 7 AM. Not great but some rest. Then they checked Carolyn at 7:30 and the foley bulb came out meaning she made it to 2.5 centimeters dialated. Awesome we say some forward progress yippee!!!!!!!! Which means we have atleast got things to move a little. So now we are starting pitoson.
We started that around 8:15 and slowly progressing with that. The family is back at the hospital and we are chatting as the contractions are picking up a little.
We will see how it goes!!!!
So it has been a crazy yet wonderful ride sofar. Very excited to meet these guys!!!!
Till Later. 10月25日 40 Plus weeks Pregnant with TwinsWell we have almost gotten to the end of the pregnancy in the Carolyn and Hoss household. Carolyn is currently at 40 weeks and 5 days with our twin boys and we go into the hospital tomorrow for the labor induction to try and get those boys to come out.

We had so much fun this week. We also got out and took some pictures of the belly and the amazing Carolyn. She is jsut radiant these days.
Here are a few pictures from this last week.
We begin at Just 40 weeks. Out doctors appointment doing a non-stress test. Monitoring my amazing wife and out two boys in there. Everyone is doing great but the doctors said doesn't look like you are going by yourself anytime soon. So induction scheduled for this coming Monday!
With our last childless weekend we headed down to the Seattle Center. Did a little posing in front of the Space Needle where we had our wedding pictures taken. Fun Fun!!
We ended our last childless Saturday down ont eh beach enjoying a great Seattle fall sunset. We took in the sunset and the beach. Read a few books to the boys.
Then Carolyn decided she is only 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant so time to show off some of her yoga poses. Yep that is my AWESOME wife doing a yoga pose on the beach with the fully belly in view. AWESOME!!
The rest can be found in the photo album. <-- Click there it see the photo Album.
Well tomorrow we go in for the induction. We are so Very excited. We cannot wait to meet our boys. Hopefully in 24 hours from now we have boys in our arms and Carolyn was able to endure the induced labor. Send thoughts this way.
Thanks
Hoss

10月11日 Selling My 1971 Datsun 240Z Well with Carolyn and I having twin boys on the way (Currently she is 38 weeks and 4 days along and she is doing amazing! Due October 21st) I have been in a mad dash to get my 1973 240Z project to a point that I can hand off before the boys arrive.
Well I have pretty much made it which means it is time to part with my 1971 Datsun 240Z. This is a sad yet happy day for the Hoss household. I will be very sad that I have to part with my 1971 Datsun 240Z which has been so much fun over the past 10 plus years. I had her out driving her around today and she still has lots of power coming out of the 280 block I put in her a long time ago. Still so much fun to drive. But I am very happy because this means I am truely moving forward with building the 1973 to what I have wanted fro some time now.
If anyone is interested in purchasing the 1971 Datsun 240Z here are my brutaly honest specifications.
1971 Datsun 240 Z "Project" Car for sale
I call it a project car because even though it runs and drives with all the gusto you would want it has seen better days. I drove this as my daily driver up untill the begining of this last winter when the wife decided i needed to drive a newer car if I was going to be picking her up and dropping her off.
Mileage: 189,000
1971 Body is blue.
1971 hood which is black.
1973 doors and hatch that are red (rust buble son both)
40K ago I took a 280Z block rebuilt it and mated it with the 240 Z head - runs strong have not had any problem
Manual transmission was replaced with a five speed a while ago but it will not shift into 5th either because of the transmission or because I did not cut the tunnel away to let the leave go far enough
Dealer factory option wheels
Both outside door handles work but need to be replaced because during last winters ice storm I had to move it and the doors were frozen shut so the door handles broke.
The interior does not have the tunnel pieces or the radio console area, the dash is cracked.
The seats are out of a 280Z but are not even in decent shape. Bad car covers hiding the ripped up seats.
Had to charge the battery the last time I went drive it. but before that i had not driven it in probbaly 3 months.
Location: Northern Shoreline (10 miles North of Seattle, WA)
Any questions or you want to make an offer drop me an e-mail.

Hangin Tough - Guess the twins Due Date updateWell Carolyn is now at 38 weeks and 4 days and she is Hangin Tough. Our last doctors appointment went great with the doctor saying everything looks great and I will see you next week because it doesn't look like anynoe is coming before next week.
From our Guess the Delivery Date board it looks like most people didn't know how strong my amazing wife is.
Currently still in the running is Molly (if it happens today), Kim, Alissa, Tom, Kathy, Darby and Hoss who alsways knew his wife was a rock star. Anyone want to guess a new date now that yours has passed.
10月10日 Best Beer Ever7月23日 Twin Block ProjectWell at the baby shower that Carolyn's sister had for her on our last trip to Cali a little project was started.
Decorating wood blocks for the boys was one of the activities. Everyone - from little 3 year old cousins to grandparents - had a great time and we ended up with a lot of great decorated blocks that the boys will get to play with starting in a few years (and for many years to come). You can decorate the blocks anyway you want - paint, sharpies, using rubber stamps, wood burning, carving, dremel tool designs, etc. Whatever way works for you.
We are inviting anyone who would like to join in on the fun to pick up a block decorate it and get it back to us. Better yet come and hangout sometime and decorate a block while you are here or take it with you and just get it back sometime. If you are out of town and want to participate you are welcome to just send one or you can drop me a line with your address and the number of blocks you want to decorate. I will ship you the blocks and you can ship them back.
All we ask is that somewhere on them you sign it with your name so we know who did each block.
Look at some of the great blocks that people have decorated so far.
So join in the fun and encourage the twins to have some good old fashion toys around. Oh and just for fun here is a shot of the growing belly this was over 10 days ago so it is bigger then this already! 7月8日 Medical Technology Rocks!!!!!!Well once again a day of doctors visits totally rocked.
This afternoon was filled with another detailed ultrasound to make sure the babies are growing and that they are staying close in size to each other. The great news that we heard was that Baby A "Ellie" is 1 Pound 10 onces and Baby B "Zee" is 1 pound 12 onces. Both right on track and right with each other!!!! Currently they look perfect!!!!!
We then got to have a few pictures taken. We started off getting some nice profile shots.
The technichian had to work with the babies and have Carolyn move around because they were not cooperating. But they finally got the pictures.
Once they finished all the measuring to make sure the babies were right on track we asked to get a little confirmation to make sure there were no surprises like my sister had on delivery day.
So the technician got us a few good pictures of the new hostetler family jewels........
or as Carolyn put it 'the boys junk'!!! For those who have not read an ultrasound before the technician put arrows pointing to the "junk" as Carolyn put it. (Carolyn is a little embarassed that I'm posting 'fetus porn', as she calls it!).
Then for even more fun the technician pulled out one of there cool 3D/4D ultrasounds and worked to get a good picture in 3D and showed us a little 3D video (time being the 4th D) of the two boys. Here is a little 3D ultrasound picture of one of the boys face seeing the eye, nose, mouth, cheek, ear with arm coming up in front of it. So So So Cool!!!!
I hope everyone has the opportunity to see their in utero little ones like this when the time comes, it was so cool.
And 6 hours later, I am still on a high from it today - even after going back to work for a few hours, playing an indoor soccer game (which I kicked butt at - scored 2 goals and 2 assists - just endless energy from my baby high). Here is hoping I can fall asleep sometime in the next few hours.
Well that is it for now. Soon I will recap our great 4th of July weekend this past weekend but baby ultrasounds had to get posted the day of. Medical technology just plan ROCKS!!! 6月21日 Carolyn's New RideWell today was very eventful. We started the day with amazing news about our twins. Finanlly learning the sexes. Very exciting. Then we turned to the practical problem of how to transport our two little ones. Which landed us at many Honda Dealers. And in the end we are the proud (not exactly, more like resigned to the fact that we are) minivan owners. I will still stick with my mantra that this is _Carolyn's_ new ride NOT mine. Once we got the Minivan home it was time to try and put the car seats in for a trial run. What the....
How the ..... Pull what.....to tighten what....i think miss cabbage patch is getting strangled by this thing. Carolyn had a bit of fun while I tried to figure out how to tighten the straps without choking the cabbage patch doll. ![]() But soon I was on my way and got the seat in. Cabbage patch all hooked in safely to the new mini van.
Once that adventure was finished it was time to get a few pictures of the MiniVan. I tried my best to get the best picture of the Honday Odyessey that I could. Amazingly even taking the picture while lying on the ground it still does not look mean or cool. Carolyn's new ride!!!
but wait there is more!!! Racing STRIPES!!! Oh ya Carlyn's New Ride has Racing Strips!!!! Sometimes also reffered to as pinstripes but she is claiming racing stripes. My first fathers DayWell I woke up this morning dying to find out the sexes of our twins. As soon as I and Carlyn were barely awake I said "Can we *NOW* open the cards and find out who we get to welcome into the world in a few months."
And Finally I got to hear "Yes we can open the cards now."
Carolyn got up and brought me my first fathers day present.
Which consisted of a book.
"101 Secrets a Good Dad knows" I wasn't sure if I should take this as a good or bad hint. But I guess it was very appropriate considering that I am an expectant father. I took a quick look through it and thanks to my amazing dad I pretty much alread know all of these so called secrets. - Thanks Dad!!!!
But the second very exciting piece was in the back of the book were the two cards for Baby A and Baby B.
So Carolyn and I opened card for Baby A together ![]() Then we opened the card for baby B ![]() So we are having Twin Boys. Very very exciting. What a great way to start my first fathers day as an expectant father. So much fun.
I hope the rest of the dads out there have a great fathers day. 5月31日 How did the twins get their in utero nicknames?Well I have had a few people ask what is up with teh Ellie and Zee names. So...
In Carolyn's family, when anyone is expecting they(Carolyn) gives the unborn baby a really weird name, like Griswalda and this is how they baby is referred to during the pregnancy. Carolyn wanted something to call the baby when she thought there was only one so Kelsey asked her what her favorite animal is and she said ELEPHANT. So, we nicknamed baby 1, Ellie. When she found out she was expecting twins there was no point in asking Hoss his favorite animal . . . it had to be his favorite CAR, which, of course is a Z car, so baby 2 is nicknamed Zee! The nicknames have nothing to do with whether or not the babies are male or female. Ok time to turn in. 5月27日 Most Amazing DayWell today was just an amazing day all around.
Woke up early because I could not sleep because I was so excted about our ultrasound appointment today.
The appointment went great. it was so so so amazing. They went through and measured everything. The babies look perfect. They are almost identical in size and right not track for 19 weeks.
It was just amazing we got to see. The only problem I had was that I was so excited I could barely stand still while watching the monitor. By the end my cheeks hurt from the 2 hours of ultrasound and my perma-grin while watchign the screen.
The babies were moving around and we got to see everything and watch as they measured all their little parts. So cool to see them move their little arms, legs, hands and such.
It was so amazing to see there little legs with femurs that are just over an inch long.
They then checked baby sexes and Carolyn made some cards up for the technician to write down the sexes inside and seal so we can find out together later, if i can convince her to find out before hand.
So that is as much of the sexes as i know so far. I am workin hard on having us find out. It is just a simple opening of the cards to find out. I so want to find out. So So so want to find out. Her latest thought is since I want to know so bad that maybe her gift to me on Father's day(June 21st) or my birthday (September 14th) will be to open the cards. All i can say is that both of those are way to far away. Can't we jsut open them together and have the joy of finding out.
We did get some good pictures of the babies. Here they are:
Here is a shot of both of them with their in utero names on them. You can see the membrane bwteen them. They are both in completely different sacks with serperate placenta's. So either identical or fraternal. Still do not know?
Then a profile of each.
Ellie
Zee!
Then we went to our doctors appoitnemnt after that and we got to listen to heart beats. Oh man that was cool!!! Seeing thema nd then hearing there heart beats.
Now that was a fantastic day!!!
And that is not even counting that I played soccer for the second time after my 2 monhs off with a hamstring tear. That is just so insignificant comapred to the baby fun.
Well time to head to bed.
Later
Hoss
4月10日 Active Little ones in thereWell wednesday was the end of the first trimester mark and we had our next appointment.
Good news is everything looks healthy and great, bad news is carolyn is still waking up not feeling good, has a few hours of no sickness mid morning and then feels sick agian teh remainder of the day and is wiped out most days.
Our next appointment went great. We got a quick ultrasound int eh doctors office instead of the nice equipment at the medical center so not as clear but they are bigger and oh were tehy active. They were bouncing up and down and turning over. It was crazy to see. Wee are so excited!!!!
Next appointment is in three weeks and we should get to hear the heart beats then instead of jsut seeing them on the ultrasound monitor.
This week I have borrowed a few baby car seats from friends and we are going to start looking at cars because we know our cars in all likely hood will not work. hard to fit two car seats in a Hyundai or Z.
Oh and one last thing. Carolyn's stomach started to pop this week. There is a small bump forming.
